On the first Sunday of each month, there is an envelope in your bulletin marked "Discretionary Fund."
This is the fund - administered by the Rector (or the Wardens, in the absence of a Rector) - for those in need of special assistance. For instance, money is disbursed for emergency situations like: heating oil, gas for the car, tires for the car, prescription medications, short-term housing, short-term professional counseling, etc. These funds are distributed with the strictest confidentiality. They are not meant to be used repeatedly or as a way of supplementing an on-going need. Every effort is made, in those cases, to refer individuals or families to professional agencies, food banks, shelters, Legal Aid, social workers, etc. The loose offering (non-pledged income) of the 1st Sunday of the month is designated for the Discretionary Fund by Episcopal Church canons.
On the third Sunday of each month, Trinity parish designated offerings for Outreach Ministries. These include meals prepared for the St. George's, Central Falls meal site twice each month.... as well as Trinity's Food Closet and other special outreach projects and organizations. For instance, donations are sometimes made to St. Mary's Home for Children in North Providence, Crossroads Rhode Island,
RI Veterans, the Episcopal Camp & Conference Center, etc.
Please note that money or checks you put in either of these monthly envelopes can be credited to your stewardship statement, but ONLY IF you include your name and/or Pledge Number. If you're contribution is made by check, it should also be noted on the memo line of your check: "Discretionary" or "Outreach."
PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE ENVELOPES IN PLACE OF YOUR WEEKLY PLEDGE ENVELOPE. If you have forgotten your pledge envelope, you may put your check in the offering plate, marking the memo line as "Pledge." ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE DISCRETIONARY OR OUTREACH ENVELOPES FOR ALTAR FLOWERS; FOR CHRISTMAS OR EASTER OFFERINGS... or for anything other than Discretionary Fund or Outreach Fund.
If you are not already using VANCO for automatic payments from YOUR checking account that is directly deposited into the TRINITY GENERAL OPERATING ACCOUNT on a weekly or monthly basis (you determine how much & when), then please talk with Susan Newkirk, our new Parish Treasurer. She can be reached by email at: email@example.com or 647-0607.
Electronic giving through VANCO or set up by you through your bank makes YOUR GIVING so much easier for you... And for Trinity. It provides the parish with predictable, reliable income to fund the General Operating Budget. Please keep in mind that we are working with a deficit budget... meaning that our income from pledges made by our parish members is about $24,000 less than what we need to keep things going! And every summer the parish income slows & gives almost every parish treasurer great anxiety! Electronic giving through VANCO or arranged by you through your bank alleviates summer anxieties by your treasurer, wardens & vestry! Please give this PRAYERFUL CONSIDERATION. THANK YOU!!!

Attention: Dunkin’ Donuts Lovers
You can help erase our budget shortfall by getting a DD Perks card and donating the value of all the freebies you will get in the collection plate. The card is free & you can easily auto fund it online to use instead of cash when you buy food or drinks at any Dunkin’. I use mine only once or twice weekly but have received many coupons online for free drinks of any size, as well as a free donut with every receipt. Please consider this mutually beneficial practice!
Thank You, Patty Kline
